Secretary of Biotechnology Development Headquarters of the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology Mostafa Qanei said two Iranian companies have launched a project to make two herbal medicines for fighting the coronavirus.
He noted that two other companies are also working on two other medicines used for treatment of individuals with the coronavirus symptoms, saying the medication is expected to clean the nose and throat.
The medicines are going to be mass produced after success in the clinical tests and certification by the Food and Drugs Organization, he added.
The official went on to say that the clinical tests have begun since March 5 and will go on for two weeks.
The Iranian Health Ministry said on Monday that since the outbreak of the new coronavirus in the country, 2,394 patients have completely recovered from the infectious disease.
The total number of coronavirus cases in the country has increased by 595, reaching 7,161.
Authorities say the death toll from the new coronavirus epidemic in Iran has risen to 237.
