Iranian experts succeeded in acquiring the technology for the ship-to-ship transfer of oil products, an Iranian official announced on Monday.

Managing-Director of Iranian Oil Terminals Company (IOTC) Seyed Pirooz Moussavi told FNA that local experts at his company have successfully manufactured the flexible oil suction and discharge rubber hose needed for such ship-to-ship transfers.

He added that the 12-inch rubber hose is used for transferring oil products form ship to ship and also for the transfer of oil products from jetty to ships.

By manufacturing the hose, Iran joined the few European, East Asian and American companies which own the technology, Moussavi continued.

Earlier this month, Head of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) Ahmad Qalebani had informed that Iran has managed to manufacture more than 70 percent of the equipment needed in its oil industry.

In similar remarks in January 2013, Manager of South Oil Fields National Company for Provision and Facilities Affairs Nasser Kheradmand said that oil industry contractors are not authorized to import those foreign made items that are already manufactured domestically, a senior Iranian official said.

“In the framework of the policy to support the Iranian manufacturers, no part that can be manufactured inside the country is ordered to any foreign company,” Kheradmand said at the time.

The Iranian oil ministry plans to launch a fund to support local manufacturers of oil industry equipment, a plan that will be offered to Parliament for final approval, according to Iranian Deputy Oil Minister for Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Shojaddin Bazargani.
