Iran flays UN nuclear hypocrisy

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has slammed the world’s powers seeking a monopoly on science and technology to protect their own material interests.

Ahmadinejad, who was giving a speech to mark Iran Day during a visit to the World Expo in Shanghai on Friday, blasted some of the world’s nuclear states for using destructive bombs while preventing others from acquiring peaceful nuclear technology.

He also questioned the structure of the UN Security Council and said the veto power is an unfair element which is being misused by its holders.

Elsewhere in his speech, the Iranian president also denounced the US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, stating that the American attacks in Pakistan have led to human catastrophes.

He also referred to the Palestinian issue and criticized Washington’s behavior towards other nations as “detestable.”

The Iranian president said the people of the world do not accept arrogant and tyrannical approaches, noting that powers who adopt such approaches will cease to exist.
