Iran foreign policy based on interaction

Iran’s foreign minister says the country’s foreign policy is based on engagement with independent nations and living under a ‘just system.’

The top Iranian diplomat made the remark in a meeting with the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s (DRC) Senate Foreign Affairs Commission Jean Claude Mokeni.

Mottaki touched upon the history of the Congolese people’s struggles as well as their revolutionary background and hailed the cordial relations between Iran and the Congo.

He referred to exchanges of senior delegations between the two countries as a clear example of mutual and friendly ties, calling for the further enhancement of bilateral relations.

The Congolese parliamentarian, in turn, lashed out at the existing ‘international system’ and its attitude toward independent nations such as Iran and the DRC, calling for both nations to work together closely to achieve ‘fair relations’ on world stage.

Mehr News Agency quoted Mokeni as saying that Kinshasa is ready to draw on Tehran’s wealth of experience in different areas, namely economy.

He said Iran’s development and progress despite international sanctions set a good example for other world nations.

Last month, Mottaki had proposed the two countries increase their level of cooperation in a meeting with the Congolese Parliament Speaker Justin Koumba.
