Iran hails Hamas’s adherence to resistance option

Ali Velayati, head of the Iranian Center for Strategic Research, has applauded the Hamas Movement for its adherence to the armed resistance as a means to liberate the Palestinian land from the occupation.

Velayati made his remarks during his meeting on Saturday with a delegation from Hamas led by deputy chief of its political bureau Saleh al-Aruri.

“We solute you for announcing that you will never give up your weapons and considering them a red line for you,” Velayati was quoted as saying by Iranian media outlets.

“The Palestinian question is the most important issue in the Islamic world, and despite of the passage of time and regional conspiracies, but you have remained adherent to the principle of resistance against the Zionists,” he added.

In the same context, speaker of the Iranian parliament Ali Larijani also met on the same day with Aruri and other members of the delegation and discussed with them different issues of mutual interest.

A high-level delegation from Hamas led by Aruri arrived in Tehran on Friday in order to meet with senior Iranian officials, discuss with them the latest developments in the Palestinian arena, especially with regard to the Palestinian reconciliation, and explore avenues for promoting the bilateral relations.
