Iran, IAEA to hold 8th round of talks in Tehran today

Iran, IAEA
Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will hold the 8th round of their talks here on Wednesday.

The IAEA experts delegation led by the organization’s Deputy Director General, Head of the Department of Safeguards Herman Nackaerts arrived in Tehran Wednesday morning for the talks.

The talks will be held at the venue of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization.

The talks are scheduled to take place in a single day. However, the possibility of extending it for another day upon the requirements still exists.

Iran’s permanent representative at the UN nuclear watchdog Ali Asghar Soltaniyeh is to head the Iranian delegation in the talks.

During the latest round of talks held in Tehran on January 16, 2013, the two sides agreed to continue negotiations until reaching an ultimate agreement.

Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization chief Fereydoun Abbasi Davani advised the IAEA officials to be more careful while dealing with Tehran.

He said the IAEA security system is not safe enough, adding that every time the IAEA inspectors visited Iran, secret information leaked outside.

He also believed that talks between the two sides should focus on building confidence and removing ambiguities.

He reiterated that Iran uses nuclear energy only for peaceful purposes such as generation of electricity, treatment of patients and development of agriculture.
