The production of gas and gas condensates in phases 4 and 5 of Iran’s South Pars gas field increased last year compared with the previous year, an official announced on Sunday.

“The South Pars Gas Complex (SPGC) has an important role in providing the country’s energy basket with producing 43% of Iran’s gas,” Head of the Refining Department of the SPGC Zahra Khorrami said.

“Compared with the year 1390 (March 2011-March 2012) production of gas and gas condensates in the refinery in the year 1391 (March 2012-March 2013) increased respectively 7.8% and 1.6% more than what has originally been designed,” he added.

Iran’s Pars Special Energy Economic Zone (PSEEZ) exported 10 consignments of gas condensates worth more than 800 million dollars during the second Iranian calendar month of Ordibehesht (20 April- 20 May).

PSEEZ Managing Director Massoud Nasseri said in May that his zone has exported 67 consignments of non-oil goods as well totaling 430 thousand tons in weight and 252 million dollars in value.

According to the official, in addition to gas condensates, PSEEZ exported some petrochemical products as well, such as light and heavy polyethylene, butene, butadiene, urea, methanol, sulfur, cement gray and ammonia.

Gas condensates made up 66% of total exports in terms of weight and 76% in terms of value, Nasseri said.

Meanwhile during the period PSEEZ imported 286 thousand tons of goods needed for South Pars gas field projects worth $205mln.

South Pars Gas Field’s condensate reserves are estimated at 18 billion barrels. There is the possibility to extract 40 thousand barrels of gas condensate from each phase of the field which will stand at 1.120 million barrels per day upon the completion of all 28 phases of the field.
