Iran, India discuss key regional, international issues

Top officials of Iran and India have exchanged views on important issues of common interest and ways to help establish peace and stability in the region and across the globe.

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili, currently on an official visit to New Delhi, held talks with Indian National Security Advisor (NSA) Shivshankar Menon on Friday.

Jalili and Menon praised historical and cultural commonalties between Tehran and New Delhi and highlighted the significance of improving bilateral relations in political, economic and security fields.

During his three-day visit, the SNSC secretary also held meetings with Indian Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid and Minister of Finance Palaniappan Chidambaram and discussed ways to expand mutual relations.

He attended a press conference on Friday.

Jalili will set off for the Afghan capital of Kabul later on Friday.
