Iranian Justice Minister Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi and his Iraqi counterpart Hassan al-Shammari have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on judicial cooperation between Iran and Iraq.

During a meeting in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, the two ministers called for the development of judicial cooperation between the justice ministries of the neighboring countries and signed the MoU on judicial cooperation.

Under the cooperation agreement, the two sides will set up a joint committee at the earliest possible time to examine the condition of their prisoners and pave the way for their extradition.

During the meeting, Pour-Mohammadi said that the upcoming parliamentary elections in Iraq will mark a better future for the Iraqi government and nation.

Nujaifi, for his part, said that Baghdad is keen to shore up relations with Tehran in all sectors. He also said that the April 30 parliamentary elections can help consolidate the political process in Iraq.
