Iran, Iraq study regional developments

Caretaker of IRI’s Foreign Ministry Ali-Akbar Salehi in a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said Iraq has a special position in Iran’s foreign policy.

“We attach great importance to participation of all Iraqi political groups in the new government as a base for sovereignty of the country,” Salehi added.

Salehi also hoped for establishment of more security in Iraq.

“There are many capacities for expansion of the two countries’ cooperation and Iran announced its readiness for participation in the reconstruction projects in Iraq.”

Salehi said that the presence of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq in regional cooperation is necessary.

Iraqi Premier for his part underlined for acceleration of reconstruction of Iraq.

Al-Maliki said that the two countries are following for establishment of Iran-Iraq joint commission in order to facilitate expansion of cooperation between the two sides.
