Iran, Kuwait sign 6 pacts in Sheikh Sabah's 1st state visit

Iran and Kuwait have signed six major pacts to further enhance bilateral collaborations in diverse fields on the first day of a landmark visit to Tehran by Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah. The agreements were inked Sunday in the presence of Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani and Kuwaiti Emir in Tehran after the two sides held talks at Saadabad cultural and historical complex.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Kuwaiti counterpart Sabah al-Khalid al-Hamad al-Sabah signed two agreements to enhance cooperation in air transportation and security fields.
Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Tayyeb-Nia and Kuwaiti Minister of Finance Anas al-Khalid al-Saleh inked an accord to strengthen customs cooperation.
The two countries also signed agreements in the fields of sports, tourism and the environment.
The Kuwaiti Emir arrived in the Iranian capital, Tehran, earlier on Sunday for a landmark two-day visit to discuss key bilateral and regional issues including developments in Syria and Iraq.
Sheikh Sabah is making his first visit to Iran as head of state at the head of a high-level delegation comprising the ministers of foreign affairs, oil, finance, commerce and industry in addition to other senior officials.
He is visiting the Islamic Republic follow a formal invitation extended to the Kuwaiti ruler by President Rouhani.
