Iran launches new patrol vessels for its border patrols

938358_thumThe new naval vessels for border police were launched by the Police Chief Commander Ismail Ahmdi-mghadam, and Gen. Hossein Zolfaghari, Border Police Commander in the Persian Gulf.
The ceremony was held in Kish Island, in the Persian Gulf, the Chief of Police stating that most of success, progress and manufacturing of native vessels have been done during the sanctions periods.

He said: “the number of vessels and domestic production will increase another 50 percent before 2015.” He called the aim of these new vessels to facilitate search and rescue missions and to deal with the boarder invaders and smugglers, deep within our borders.

Ahmdi-mghadam continued: “In the past year, there have been six, 60-foot vessel manufactured or re-constructed in the country, and by the end of the year the construction of 20 more 60-foot vessels will be finished.”

“With the construction of these new vessels, which the whole process was carried out domestically, we have saved around $30 million,” he reiterated.
