Iran launches third ocean liner as an unaffected country from global crisis

Iran’s third ocean liner built by domestic specialists from the Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IDRO) has been launched in Bandar Abbas (south).

The ship named Iran-Kashan was launched on Sunday in a ceremony attended by IDRO’s board chairman, governor general of Hormozgan Province and a group of Iranian lawmakers, Fars News Agency reported.

Addressing the ceremony, Majid Hedayat, deputy minister of industries and chairman of the IDRO board, said Iran is the only country in the Middle East capable of building ships.

“Today, is a day of pride and power for our country in the area of industry as the endeavors of Iranian industrial experts have taken the country to a point that it can meet its needs in modern, parent and maritime industries,” he added.

Hedayat went on to say that specialists in various fields have made the sanctions imposed on the country ineffective and the country is currently manufacturing the most complicated machinery and industrial products.

The deputy minister said that Iran is building two dry docks, adding, “When the two dry docks come on stream, we will be able to maintain domestic and foreign ships crossing the Persian Gulf.”
