Iran, Lebanon to expand cooperation

Iran and Lebanon have agreed to hold the first meeting of High Committee on Expansion of Cooperation to be chaired by by Iranian 1st Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi and Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mighati in Beirut.

The agreement was made in a meeting on Saturday between Mighati and Iranian Ambassador to Beirut Ghazanfar Roknabadi.

Both sides discussed ways of promoting the two countries’ trade and economic cooperation as well as the date of the High Commitee meeting from April 30 to May 3.

Mighati welcomed Rahimi’s upcoming visit to Beirut and expressed hope that the first High Commitee meeting would be a success.

Lebanese Ex-prime minister Sa’ad Hariri in his last visit to Tehran in December 2011 proposed holding the High Committee meeting which was approved by the two countries’ officials.
