‘Iran missiles hit targets with pinpoint accuracy’

The Iranian defense minister says the country’s military experts have enhanced the precision of domestically-designed and manufactured long-range and ballistic missiles to the level that the projectiles can strike targets with pinpoint accuracy.

“The precision strike lethality of our long-range and ballistic missiles has been improved to the extent that we can hit targets with pinpoint accuracy,” Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan stated in an exclusive interview with Iran’s IRIB2 television network late on Sunday.

He further noted that the Iranian indigenous surface-to-surface missiles’ margin of error, which was 200 meters at some stage in the past, is now two meters. “We strive to reach zero margin of error,” Dehqan pointed out.

On November 11, Deputy Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Salami said Iranian missiles enjoy high precision against point targets, and they are capable of targeting moving vessels in the sea.

He added that the indigenous projectiles can also detect radiation that could be used against centers of command and control.

On October 1, Head of the Aerospace Industries Organization of Iran’s Defense Ministry Seyyed Mehdi Farahi said that the Islamic Republic plans to increase the range of Iranian air-launched missiles to 300 kilometers.

He termed the development and production of anti-aircraft missiles as highly challenging and demanding.

Farahi stated that his organization is seeking to boost the precision of missiles and their radar-evading capability, install them on unmanned aerial vehicles, tactically connect them to Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) systems, increase missiles durability and make them smart.

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and has attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems.

Tehran has repeatedly assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to other countries since the Islamic Republic’s defense doctrine is based entirely on deterrence.
