Iran mounts hi-tech arms on Lavan warship

Commander of Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari says state-of-the-art weapons and radar systems have been installed on the newly-overhauled Lavan warship.

On the sidelines of the first forum of modern marine technologies in the northern city of Nowshahr, 200 kilometers (124 miles) north of Tehran, on Tuesday, Sayyari told reporters, “The warship needed an overhaul and had to be fitted with sophisticated and novel technologies”.
He added that the warship’s body as well as propulsion, sonar, radar and firing systems in addition to data gathering sensors have been repaired.
The admiral noted that Lavan warship would be unveiled in the Sacred Defense Week in late September, which commemorates the braveries of the Iranian soldiers who fought in the 1980-1988 Iraqi-imposed war.
On March 17, Iran launched the Jamaran-2 destroyer in the Caspian Sea near the northern port city of Bandar Anzali.
Jamaran-2, a Mowj-class warship, has been designed and built by Iranian experts and has state-of-the-art navigation equipment and complex defensive systems.
