Governor-General of Iran’s Sistan-and-Baluchestan province Ali Osat Hashemi announced on Wednesday that the terrorists who had killed the abducted Iranian border guard, Jamshid Danayeefar, over a year ago are among those captured by the Iranian security forces several months ago.
Hashemi’s remarks came a few days after the Iranian intelligence ministry discovered Danayeefar’s body and returned it to Iran from Pakistan.

“We could (discover and) identify Danayeefar’s body after we hit a heavy blow at the outlaws in Esfand (the last month of the past Iranian year which ended on March 20) and after we identified and arrested all the culprits who had carried out terrorist operations (in Iran)” from 2007 to 2014, Hashemi told reporters in Tehran today.

He underlined that those who had killed Danayeefar were also among the captured terrorists and had confessed to killing him and provided information on the place where he was buried.

Hashemi said that the arrested terrorists were members of Jeish Al-Adl terrorist group.

In a statement on Sunday, the intelligence ministry said it had discovered and identified the body of martyred Iranian border guard and transferred it to Iran.

It said that the discovery was made following over one year of intensive investigations after a number of culprits affiliated to anti-revolutionary grouplets involved in the martyrdom of Danayeefar were arrested.

Based on the statement, the body arrived in Iran on the first day of the new Iranian year (started March 21, 2015).

Martyr Danayeefar was buried on Tuesday.

Five Iranian border guards were abducted in Jakigour region of Iran’s Sistan and Balouchestan Province on February 6, 2014 and taken to Pakistani territory. Four of them, namely Ramin Hazrati, Sajjad Zahani, Mohammad Nezami and Jamshid Teymouri, were freed in early April.

A week before that, Jeish Al-Adl claimed that it had killed Danayeefar.

In April, former Commander of the Iranian Border Guard Units General Hossein Zolfaqari said diplomatic measures to clarify Danayeefar’s fate were underway.

Zolfaqari told reporters in the Northeastern province of North Khorassan that the Iranian foreign and interior ministries were pursuing the case seriously.

The other four Iranian border guards who were handed over to the country’s officials in neighboring Pakistan in early April returned home two months after their abduction.

Also in April, Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli asked the Pakistani government do its responsibility for following up the case of the last kidnapped Iranian border guard.
