Iran Named OPEC Conference Alternate President in 2010

Iran’s Oil Minister Masoud Mir Kazemi was elected on Thursday as Alternate President of the OPEC Conference in 2010.

The 154th Meeting of the Conference of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) convened in Vienna, Austria, on 9th and 10th September 2009, also elected Germ?nico Pinto, Minister of Mines & Petroleum of Ecuador and Head of its Delegation, as President of the Conference for one year, with effect from 1st January 2010, the Islamic republic news agency reported.

The election is usually made on alphabetical basis annually and hence, Iran’s minister will be the Conference President in 2011 with Iraqi Oil Minister being the Alternate President.
