Iran, Niger urge unity among Muslims

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Nigerien counterpart Mahamadou Issoufou have called for unity in the Muslim world.

In a meeting in the Nigerien capital, Niamey, on Tuesday, the two presidents stressed the importance of working to create solidarity and unity in the Islamic world, urging vigilance against the plots of the global arrogance.

Ahmadinejad and Issoufou also called for establishing a world full of peace, justice and brotherhood.

Meanwhile, the two sides discussed the recent regional and international developments. The presidents stated that the expansion of all-out ties was beneficial to the two countries, as well as the regional nations and the Muslim Ummah.

The Iranian president arrived in Niger on Tuesday on the second leg of his three-nation tour of Africa after wrapping up a visit to Benin.

During his visit to Benin, Ahmadinejad held talks with Benin’s President Thomas Yayi Boni and other senior officials.

The Iranian president also attended the inauguration ceremony of a 25-megawatt power plant in Benin. Iran’s MAPNA Group has undertaken the implementation of the project.
