Iran not to compromise on N-rights

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says the Iranian negotiating team will not compromise on the nation’s rights in the course of talks with six world powers over Tehran’s nuclear energy program.

He recommended the opposite side in nuclear talks with Iran negotiate with the Islamic Republic based on mutual respect and understanding.

“Of course, we are not ready to achieve a solution at any cost. We insist on our rights and at the same time try to achieve an acceptable, dignified, logical, long-term and lasting solution” Zarif said early Wednesday.

The world community should come to the understanding that an imposed solution would fail to last, he added.

Zarif said the Iranian negotiating team is seeking to find a solution that would ensure the country’s access to state-of-the-art technology, lead to the lifting of all sanctions-induced restrictions on the Iranian people and safeguard the achievements made by the country in nuclear technology.

Iran and the P5+1 formally kicked off the sixth round of nuclear talks on July 3in Vienna to discuss a permanent accord on Tehran’s nuclear energy program.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – the United States, Russia, France, Britain and China – plus Germany have been discussing ways to sort out their differences and achieve a final deal that would end the decade-old dispute over Iran’s nuclear energy program.

The two sides sealed an interim deal in Geneva, Switzerland, on November 23, 2013. Under the deal, the six countries agreed to provide Iran with some sanctions relief in exchange for Tehran agreeing to limit certain aspects of its nuclear activities during a six-month period.

The deal came into force in January and expires on July 20, but can be extended depending on the agreement of all parties involved.
