Iran Official Calls on Saudi King to Study Holy Quran

Secretary of Iran’s Expediency Council (EC) Mohsen Rezayee rapped Saudi King Salman for raising baseless allegations against Tehran, and called on him to study or, at least, read the holy Quran instead of spending money on its publication.

“It seems that you are not familiar with the Quran. It will be good if you bother yourself and read it instead of publishing millions of its copies,” Rezayee wrote on his Instagram page on Monday.

He described Saudi Arabia’s tight relations with the occupier Zionist regime as a religious catastrophe, and said the Muslim world should declare public mourning over this bonding.

Rezayee blasted the Saudi king’s claims about Iran’s interference in the regional countries’ affairs, and said, “As long as you and the occupier Zionist regime, backed by the US, attack the Islamic states, we help those oppressed people who have come under your aggression.

Saudi Arabia severed diplomatic relations with Iran on January 3 following demonstrations held in front of its embassy in Tehran and its consulate in Mashhad by angry protesters censuring the Al Saud family for the execution of prominent Shiite cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr in Riyadh on January 2.

Nimr’s execution caused international outrage and sparked anti-Saudi demonstrations in many other countries.

Riyadh has been attempting to rock the boat in relations between Iran and other world states and has spared no efforts to pressure Tehran.

A senior Iranian foreign ministry official said on Saturday that Saudi Arabia has adopted anti-Iran policies and measures purposefully to compensate for its deficiencies on the international scene.

“Saudi Arabia seeks to make up for its deficiencies and wants to create conditions so that the US will back it again in all regional developments; therefore, it has focused on Iran and has deliberately opted for the policy of increasing tensions with the country,” Director-General of the Iranian Foreign Ministry for Persian Gulf Affairs Mohammad Farazmand said.

He added one of the reasons why the mutual solutions or third party initiatives to improve ties between Tehran and Riyadh don’t yield results is Saudi Arabia’s current policy and not Iran’s behavior.

“Riyadh seeks to compensate for its strategic deficiencies and shortages,” Farazmand said.

Also in April, Ground Force Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said Saudi Arabia is masterminding terrorist attacks on the Islamic Republic by training and funding terrorist groups along the borders.

Speaking to reporters, Pakpour said Iran has arrested terrorists that have confessed to their affiliation to Saudi Arabia and some other Persian Gulf Arab states.

Pakpour said Riyadh is striving hard to make Iran insecure, and added, “Right now, countries like the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia are engaged in organizing and equipping these groups but the reason why no terrorist act is committed is due to our preparedness.”
