A new report says conclusion of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries will remove sanctions imposed by the European Union and the US on Iran’s passenger and cargo planes.

According to the report released by the Public Relations Department of the Iranian Airports Holding Company, Iran’s aviation sector has been under illegal Western sanctions during the past 36 years and the conclusion of the recent nuclear agreement between Iran and the six world powers has paved the way for the removal of sanctions.

The report added that “for the first time in the past 36 years, the JCPOA will pave the way for Iran to buy new passenger planes, renovate its aviation fleet, and upgrade the safety standards of the fleet.”

The JCPOA will also make it possible for Iran to expand cooperation with other countries in the area of aviation.

According to the text of the JCPOA, the European Union has accepted to provide “fuel, engineering and maintenance services to Iranian cargo aircraft” and to allow “access to EU airports of Iranian cargo flights.”

Also, according to another paragraph of the agreement, the United States has been committed to “allow for the sale of commercial passenger aircraft and related parts and services to Iran,” and “license non-US persons … to engage in activities with Iran consistent with this JCPOA.”

On July 14, Iran and the P5+1 group of countries – the US, the UK, Germany, France, China, and Russia – reached the conclusion of negotiations over Tehran’s civilian nuclear program, with the Islamic Republic and the sextet sealing an agreement.

Based on the agreement, the world powers have recognized Iran’s civilian nuclear program, including the country’s right to the complete nuclear fuel cycle. Iran and the six powers also agreed that all economic and financial sanctions against Iran will be removed through a Security Council resolution. In addition, all bans on Iran’s Central Bank, shipping, oil industry, and many other companies will be lifted and billions of Iran’s blocked revenues will be unfrozen.
