Iran plan, best solution to Syria crisis: Mehmanparast

Iran Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast says Tehran’s peace plan for Syria is the best solution to the crisis in the Arab country.

According to Press TV, he said on Wednesday: “This plan was proposed in the past and several countries were consulted, and it has been submitted to the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and his representative.”
He added: “It has also been discussed at a quartet committee which was initiated by the Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and we think it is the best solution to the Syrian crisis.”
On December 16, 2012, Iran unveiled details of a six-point plan to resolve the ongoing crisis in Syria, which calls for an immediate end to all violent and armed acts.
The plan calls for sending humanitarian aid to Syrians following the end of all conflicts, lifting all economic sanctions imposed against the country, and facilitating the return of displaced Syrians to their homes.
It also urges talks between the Syrian government and the representatives of all Syrian groups regardless of their political and social affiliations in order to form a national reconciliation committee.
Mehmanparast said the main condition for resolving the crisis in Syria is ending the conflict in the Arab state and national dialogue in order to prepare the grounds for an election and the formation of a transitional government.
