Iran power deters foes from aggression: Rouhani

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has lauded the Islamic Republic’s enormous deterrence power, stressing that such power stops enemies from engaging in adventurism against Iran.

Speaking in a meeting with commanders and officials of Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy on Thursday, Rouhani stressed the need for the full readiness of the Iranian Armed Forces, noting that the first effect of such preparedness is deterrence, and that it also makes Iran’s enemies recognize the country’s considerable military and defensive capability.

The Iranian chief executive added that conducting various military maneuvers will not only help Iranian military forces to remain well-prepared, but also showcases their capabilities against enemies.

He also lauded the efforts made by the Iranian Navy and the IRGC to secure the nearly 2,000 kilometers of maritime borders in the south of the country.

President Rouhani further stated that enjoying full intelligence command over the area of operations is a first step toward securing Iranian borders.

On February 8, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan rejected the recent US military threats against Iran as “very meaningless” to Iranians.

He said Iranians are always prepared to confront arrogant powers, warning Americans against the catastrophic situation that a military strike against Iran would entail for them.
