Iran president congratulates Leader on nuclear deal

The Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has congratulated the Leader of the Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei on the historic deal between Iran and the Sextet over Tehran’s nuclear energy program.

After more than four days of intense negotiations, Iran and the six nations, the US, Britain, Russia, France, China and Germany, sealed an interim deal in Geneva on Sunday morning to pave the way for the full resolution of the West’s decade-old dispute with Iran over its nuclear energy program.

In a letter, President Rouhani thanked Imam Khamenei for his support and guidelines and praised the Iranian nation’s backing of the administration, Press TV reported.

“Undoubtedly, this breakthrough is the result of God’s blessings, the Leader’s guidelines and unwavering support of the Iranian nation,” he said.

Rouhani described the negotiations as “tough and complicated,” but added that the Iranian negotiation delegation managed to “prove the Iranian nation’s rightfulness on the international scene.”

He said that world powers acknowledged Iran’s nuclear rights, including enrichment, following the negotiations. Rouhani added that stage is set for taking further steps toward safeguarding the country’s technical and economic development.

The president also hailed the easing of the sanctions against Iran as mentioned in the deal, saying “world powers have come to the conclusion that sanctions and pressures will prove futile, and as Iran stated from the very beginning, there is no way to reach agreement but through mutual respect and respectful negotiations.”

According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the deal allows Iran to continue its activities at Arak, Fordow and Natanz facilities. The agreement also stipulates that no additional sanctions will be imposed on Tehran over its nuclear energy program.
