Iran Reiterates Support to Annan’s Plan, Rejection of Foreign Interference

Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast on Wednesday reiterated his country’s support to the plan of the UN Envoy to Syria, Kofi Annan, pointing out that arming the opposition groups contributes to destabilizing security in Syria and promoting the killing operations perpetrated by these groups.

In a statement to state-run Croatian TV, Mehmanparast underlined the necessity of preventing foreign interference in Syria’s internal affairs and not sending the weapons and gunmen into Syria.

He said “We reject any foreign interference in Syria’s affairs and call for resolving the crisis through peaceful ways… Annan’s plan constitutes an appropriate way for this solution.. all sides should halt violence and should exercise restraint over the use of arms so as to have the potential to start a dialogue.”
