Iran-Russia Int’l Scientific Cooperation Seminar opens

Iran-Russia International Scientific and Cultural Cooperation opened at Imam Khomeini International University on Saturday.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Chancellor of the university, Abdel Ali Al-e Bouyeh said that based on the mission Majlis has assigned to the university, 50 percent of the students admited to the university should be non-Iranian.

Scientific and educational cooperation and exchanging students with other countries are also among the priorities of the university, he said, noting that international activities have been on top of the agenda of the university since 2006 and it has managed to forge educational and scientific communication with other countries.

A delegation from the university visited Russia’s different universities in 2010 at the invitation of the country, he said.

Stating that Iran favors other countries’ dignity and independence, Al-e Bouyeh said that it is for the same reason that it believes no country has the right to dominate other country.

Meanwhile, executive secretary of the seminar, Mohammad Hosseini-Moqaddam said that the event is seeking to promote scientific cooperation between the two countries.

He also said that some 32 scientific articles by Iranian and Russian instructors will be presented during the two-day event.

Topics for discussion include scientific-technical cooperation, cultural and political ties, defense and security strategies and Iran-Russia economic and commercial cooperation.
