Iran seeks economic ties with Nicaragua

Iran’s Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has called for the expansion of ties with Nicaragua in different sectors, including economy.

According to Press TV, during a meeting with visiting Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Samuel Santos Lopez on Tuesday, Larijani said the parliaments of the two countries can play a significant role in the development of bilateral ties.

He praised Tehran-Managua relations as “good and growing,” saying “there are numerous opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in economic, industrial and agricultural sectors which we need to tap into for the improvement of bilateral relations.”

Lopez, for his part, said the promotion of ties with Iran, as a regional heavyweight, is on the agenda of Nicaragua’s foreign policy.

He welcomed the growing trend of economic and industrial ties between Iran and Nicaragua, and called for the further enhancement of relations.
