Iran, Senegal discuss boosting ties

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Senegalese counterpart Abdoulaye Wade have called for bolstering mutual ties.

At a meeting held on Monday night in the Iranian capital of Tehran, the two sides discussed international issues and those within the Muslim world, IRNA reported.

Ahmadinejad and Wade stressed on enhancing cooperation among Islamic nations saying that such synergy will contribute to global peace, security and prosperity.

Referring to rising Iran-Senegal ties, President Ahmadinejad added, “exploiting all the existing potentials for enhancing all-out cooperation is to the benefit of the two nations and the region.”

Wade, who is visiting Tehran to attend an Iran-Africa conference, noted, “Senegal attaches great importance to its ties with Iran and considers it to the benefit of the world’s Muslims, particularly in Africa.”
