“These missiles can be mounted on different fighter jets and were successfully test-fired in these wargames,” Spokesman of Fadaeeyan-e Harim-e Vellayat IV Wargames Brigadier General Hossein Chitforoush told FNA on Saturday.

According the lead pilot, Qader air-based missile with a range of over 200 kilometers can be used by the Iranian Air Force in future battles.

The Iranian Air Force started two days of massive air drills codenamed Fadaeeyan-e Harim-e Vellayat IV over the county’s Southern waters in the Persian Gulf on Friday.

Brigadier General Chitforoush underlined the successful test-fire of new missiles in the wargames, and said, “The air-based Qader and Nasr missiles have been used in these military drills.”

“An important feature of these drills was the deployment and test-firing of Qader and Nasr air-based cruise missiles that have recently been supplied to the Air Force,” stressed the General.

Qader and Nasr missiles had previously been test-fired, but it was for the first time that they were tested and evaluated in actual combat situation.

Brigadier General Chitforoush said air-to-air and air-to-surface targeting of moving and stable targets as well as war over-sea air combat have been among the drills practiced in Fadaeeyan-e Harim-e Vellayat IV Wargames in the last two days.

In September 2011, Iran unveiled its 200-km range Qader anti-ship cruise missile with a high-precision striking capability and the Iranian defense industries have mass-produced the powerful missile.

The missile enjoys automatic digital pilot system, high-precision navigation systems, high-precision striking capability, anti-jamming radar systems and a rapid deployment capability.

Its coast-to-sea and surface-to-surface versions have previously been tested by Iranian armed forces and now the air-launched version of the Qader missile was unveiled by the Iranian Army during the military parades held in Tehran on Thursday on the occasion of the National Army Day.

Arming Iranian aircraft and choppers with 200-km range Qader cruise missile will boost the Iranian Armed Forces’ power for combating and repelling naval threats.
