Iran sympathizes with Brazil over floods

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has expressed his sincere sympathy to the Brazilian government and nation over the recent heavy flooding and mudslides that killed at least 35 people.

In a message to Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, the Iranian president expressed his grief at the incident, IRNA reported on Tuesday.

The recent flooding, caused by torrential rains, left nearly 100,000 people homeless in four southeastern states.

Rescue teams are searching for bodies and survivors in the worst affected areas as weather forecasts predict more rain in the region in the coming days.

Over 470 people died across Brazil due to heavy rains and flooding last year which affected 7.8 million people.
