Iran, Syria parliament speakers hold talks on phone

Iran’s Majlis Speaker and his Syrian counterpart have emphasized resistance and steadfastness of the Syrian people against the plots hatched by foreigners as a key to help maintain stability in Syria.
According to IRIB, in a phone conversation with Mohmad Jihad al-Laham, Iranian parliament speaker Ali Larijani appreciated vigilance kept by the Syrian people and government vis-à-vis the foreign plots and the terrorist activities in that country.
Larijani noted Monday that both Syrian people and country’s government managed to defend themselves from outside enemies and terrorist groups in the country, and the situation in the country is changing for the better.
The Iranian speaker said that in order to help Syria solve the existing problems, Iran is carrying out necessary negotiations with Iraqi and Turkish parliamentary speakers.
Larijani underscored that the Islamic Republic supports peaceful and diplomatic resolution of Syria’s issue, as military solution is not an option.
Syrian speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham thanked Iran for its continuous support and said the logical and principal stand towards the regional developments is commendable.
He blasted certain countries’ duality concerning the Syrian crisis and said they have turned a blind eye on the savage crimes perpetrated by terrorists and their allies in Syria, expressing hope that the problems gripping Syria would be solved through diplomatic efforts by those justice-seeking countries.
Jihad al-Laham emphasized continuation of resistance by the Syrian people.
