Iran tests cruise missiles in drills

Iran has test-fired more missiles, including the sophisticated mid-range cruise missiles, on the seventh day of military exercises in the country’s southern waters.

The Iranian Navy, which is conducting the maneuvers, tested on Tuesday the mid-range surface to surface Nour missile launched from the homemade Jamaran Destroyer.

The Navy has used mobile launchers built by the Defense Ministry in the drills.

Two mid-range coast-to-sea cruise missiles were also test-fired and successfully hit their simulated targets.

The cruise missiles have a range of 50-60 kilometers and can evade radars as they fly at very low altitudes.

The Velayat 89 maneuvers, which began on May 5, will conclude on Wednesday.

Commander of the Iranian Army Major General Ataollah Salehi said on Tuesday that the military exercises have warned “aggressors against any attack on Iranian ships.”
