Iran throws weight behind Syria reforms

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi says Iran supports the series of reforms pledged by the Syrian government, condemning any foreign meddling in the internal affairs of Damascus.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the 18th African Union (AU) Summit in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, Salehi said Sunday that the Islamic Republic supports the reforms promised by Syria, adding that the Syrian government must be allowed enough time to carry on with the reforms.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011. Hundreds of people, including Syrian security forces, have been killed by the gangs who are supported and financed by U.S, zionist israel and their regional allies.

In interviews with israeli news outlets over the past few months, the Syrian opposition members have clearly expressed their vision for the future of Syria and their interest in establishing relations with the Tel Aviv regime.
