Iran to attend Quds meeting in Morocco

An Iranian delegation has departed for Morocco to attend the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) al-Quds committee meeting, says an Iranian diplomat.

Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said the Moroccan foreign minister invited his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif to to attend the OIC meeting.

Amir-Abdollahian said Tehran welcomes strengthening relations with all Arab countries including Morocco.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, formerly Organization of the Islamic Conference, was established in 1969 and has 57 members. The organization aims to promote dialogue between Islamic countries and the rest of the world and also protect the interests of Muslims when necessary.

The 20th meeting of the al-Quds committee of the OIC will start on Friday in the Moroccan capital Rabat.
