Iran to Fire Anti-Cruise Missiles in Air Defense Drills


Iran said it plans to test fire a variety of missile systems, including anti-cruise missiles, on the third day of massive military drills underway in the Eastern parts of the country.

Different systems with the capability of intercepting incoming cruise missiles as well as optimized and indigenized ‘Ya Zahra 3’ missiles, and diverse plans and tactics for aerial defense are due to be tested on Wednesday in the massive aerial exercises code-named “Modafe’an-e Aseman-e Velayat 4 (Defenders of Velayat Skies 4).

Electronic watch towers and systems of Iran’s integrated defense network will indentify, trace and intercept piloted aircraft and drones of hypothetical enemy, and the Islamic Republic Air Force F4 and F14 fighter jets are also due to exercise targeting and annihilating the specified objectives at high speed in Radar-guided operations.

Also artilleries, shoulder-launched weapons and low-altitude missile systems are due to be used in the military drills.

The military exercises started on Monday during which Iran unveiled and test fired new home-made missile systems including optimized the mid-range Hawk air defense missiles.
