Iran to inject fuel to nuclear plant soon

Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi says fuel will be transferred to the core of the Bushehr nuclear power plant reactor in the coming days.

“All these activities have been performed successfully and we hope that it (loading the fuel) will happen by early October and we can [finally] start using the past tense for the transfer of fuel,” said the AEOI chief on Monday.

Regarding the 54th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Salehi said, “Iran managed to pave the way for future cooperation with the agency.”

“These topics were discussed with the IAEA director general and a resolution was adopted on the implementation of the Safeguards Agreement,” Mehr News Agency quoted him as saying.

Salehi said the new resolution states that “If the agency examines an issue pertaining to a country’s nuclear activity in its reports, it (the agency) is required to cite the relevant clause in the Safeguards Agreement.”

The Iranian nuclear chief said that the conference had also called on the agency to pay more attention to observing the nuclear confidentiality of its member states.
