A senior Iranian commander says the Islamic Republic will unveil its latest long-range and medium-range missile systems in the coming weeks.

The missile systems will be displayed during a military parade on September 22, said Commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili on Wednesday

The parade will be held to mark the Sacred Defense Week which commemorates the bravery and sacrifices of Iranian soldiers who fought in the 1980-1988 Iraqi-imposed war and defended their country against enemy aggression.

The Iranian commander said that the new systems include combined, artillery and radar systems, adding that the long-range missiles have been optimized by Iranian military experts.
In recent years, Iran has made great strides in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems.

On June 2, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) officially put into service a domestically developed long-range radar system, named Ghadir, capable of detecting stealth aircraft.

The state-of-the-art radar system uses three-dimensional (3-D) technology to detect airborne targets, including radar-evading aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles, and satellites in low orbits.

Tehran has repeatedly assured other countries that its military might poses no threat to other states, insisting that the country’s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.
