Iran to unveil naval surveillance aircraft

Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi says the Islamic Republic will unveil a new domestically-manufactured naval surveillance plane and a new cruise missile in the near future.

Speaking to reporters after a cabinet meeting in the capital Tehran on Sunday, Brigadier General Vahidi said smart ammunition, aeronautic products, new domestically-manufactured satellite carrier rockets as well as new electronic and telecommunication devices will be introduced during the Ten-Day Dawn celebrations, which run from February 1 to 11 and mark the 34th anniversary of the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Brigadier General Vahidi said on January 16 the new domestically-built maritime patrol plane has high flight duration enabling it to keep maritime areas under surveillance via optical and radar subsystems.

He added that the modern patrol aircraft also has the capacity to load and upload military hardware and can also conduct better reconnaissance missions.

The Iranian defense minister announced on January 28 that Iran plans to unveil tens of new defense achievements within the next few days.

Brigadier General Vahidi stated that some of these important products have been mass-produced and will be delivered to the Armed Forces.

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in the defense sector and gained self-sufficiency in essential military hardware and defense systems.

Iran has repeatedly assured other nations, especially regional neighbors, that its military might poses no threat to other countries, insisting that its defense doctrine is merely based on deterrence.
