Iran-Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan railway major int’l corridor

Secretary of Golestan Province Parliament Members Assembly said here Tuesday that the Iran-Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan railway is a major international corridor in transportations field.

Mohammad Javad Nazarimehr referred to the opening of the major international project in a Tuesday night meeting with the provincial officials, which is simultaneous with the presence of President Hassan Rouhani’s visit of the province.

That is while the Minister of Road and Urban Development Abbas Akhundi told reporters on November 25 that Gorgan-Inche Boroun railway will become operational in the presence of presidents of Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan on December 3.

“This corridor after passing through Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan will play a key role in transiting goods on north-south and east-west directions in Asia.”

He said the major part of transit in the world is conducted between China and the West with 350 million tons annually while the corridor plays a pivotal role in connecting China to Europe and Russia and to the Persian Gulf.
