Iran has unveiled a new indigenously designed and manufactured advanced digital communications network for audio, video and data files.

The system, dubbed Tetra, was put on display during a ceremony attended by Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan and Iran’s Police Chief Brigadier General Esmail Ahmadi-Moqaddam in the city of Karaj, situated 40 kilometers (about 25 miles) west of Tehran, on Tuesday.

Tetra is expected to be used as the communication route of the Iranian police.
Earlier, Iran’s Police Deputy Director for Information and Communications Brigadier General Majid Soltani said Tetra incorporates network management system, enabling engineers to remotely support the network and shoot its technical glitches.

Soltani added that the indigenous tetra communications network is capable of being connected to both analogue and digital networks, thanks to gateways fitted in it.

Moreover, Tetra has the ability to be connected to landline and mobile systems, and police forces can connect to any of these systems easily.

Soltani highlighted that Tetra system can be used for other units of the Iranian Armed Forces.
