A senior Iranian military commander has warned against the repercussions of any possible strike on Iran’s nuclear sites.

“The enemy is afraid of a broad, ground and prolonged attack on Iran,” Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari said on Tuesday.

“The military option considered by the enemy is [based on] a missile and air strike against [Iran’s] sensitive and nuclear areas,” he added.

Should Iran come under any attack by its enemies, the IRGC commander stressed, “we will not let go of them and will threaten them from within.”

The senior commander made the remarks in reaction to US officials’ threats in recent weeks that all options, including the military one, are on the table against Iran over its nuclear program.

Iran’s Armed Forces chief of staff on February 12 dismissed US officials’ threats of military action against Iran as a “political bluff”, saying the Islamic Republic is ready for the “decisive” battle against the US and Israel.

“We are ready for the decisive war with the US and the Zionist regime [of Israel],” Major General Hassan Firouzabadi said.
