In a meeting with a number of Friday Prayers Leaders in Qom, Iran, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Jawad al-Shahristani, the representative of Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani in Iran, mentioned that the clergy are the ambassadors of the Shi’a school of thought and have a responsibility n relation to those events that occur throughout the World and said, “There are over 700 million Spanish speaking people in the world, in addition to other languages, whose propagation and cultural needs need to be catered for.”

The representative of Ayatollah Sistani emphasized upon a systematic approach and exclaimed, “Amir al-Muminin [Imam Ali] emphasized upon the necessity of having a system in one’s affairs, as this shows advancement based upon a system.”

“I believe that management is a specialist subject and obligation, one of the main reasons for the backwardness of third world countries is that they lack management in their affairs,” he said.

Hujjat al-Islam al-Shahristani added, “Unfortunately, it has been imprinted on third world countries that you do not have the capabilities or the skills required to perform certain acts, when they should be placing the motto of ‘We can!’ above their good efforts and make the best use of their opportunities.”

Ayatollah al-Sistani’s representative emphasized on the use of networking tools in advancing the propagation of the Shi’a school of thought and added, “Until now many movies have been produced about Moses, Jesus and Buddha while currently only two movies have been produced about the Holy Prophet Muhammad.”

He also stressed upon the necessity of acting upon the foundations of Shi’ism and said, “We claim that we are the followers of the Ahlul-Bayt and we take them as our role models, hence in differing circumstances we should act upon teachings of these great individuals.”

Hujjat al-Islam al-Shahristani stressed on the need to avoid causing strife amongst the Islamic denominations and added, “We should not back down from our own stances but at the same time must not cause strife within the Islamic schools of thought.”

He concluded by saying that the actions of some groups are causing harm to both Islam and Shi’ism and explained, “We must not be extreme and do inappropriate actions which can cause friction amongst the Muslims.”
