A senior Iranian commander blasted the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for its inaction vis-a-vis Israel’s threatening atomic activities and arsenal.
Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Gholam Ali Rashid said that based on reports provided by reliable international sources, the Zionist regime of Israel has 200 to 400 nuclear bombs and is a big threat to the global community.

“Unfortunately, westerners have over recent years used Iran nuclear issue as a pretext to cover up reality and divert the world public opinion from production of bombs and Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs) by Israel,” the Iranian commander went on to say.

“Have the IAEA inspectors inspected the sites for production of nuclear bombs and Weapons of Mass Destruction in Israel, which has up to 90 percent enrichment?” Major General Rashid asked.

Iran, an NPT-signatory, has called for the removal of all weapons of mass destruction from across the globe.

The UN General Assembly approved a draft resolution proposed by Iran on nuclear disarmament in October 2009 amid strong opposition by the US, Britain, France, Israel and a number of western countries.

The resolution ratified in the first committee of the UN General Assembly calls on all nuclear countries to annihilate their nuclear weapons under the supervision of international bodies.

More than 100 countries, including non-nuclear members of NAM, voted for the resolution.

The resolution also urges Israel to join the NPT and allow the IAEA to inspect its nuclear installations.

Israel is believed to be the sole possessor of nuclear arms in the Middle East with over 200 ready-to-launch warheads in its stockpile.
