Iranian Commander: Jordan’s Policies Threatening Muslim Interests

Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces General Hassan Firouzabadi lashed out at the Jordanian government for its cooperation with the al-Qaeda terrorist organization and Israel against Syria, and stressed that Amman’s policies are threatening the Muslim community.

“Hashemite (Kingdom of) Jordan’s opening of its borders to allow the al-Qaeda to kill people in Syria has severely lowered the country’s creditability among Muslims,” Firouzabadi, who is also a member of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), said on Wednesday.

He pointed to Jordan’s cooperation with Israelis and the westerners, and noted, “The Jordanian dynasty has completed its betrayal of Palestine by opening its air space to the warplanes of the Quds occupying regime (Israel).”

Firouzabadi further stressed that Jordan’s military cooperation with Israel and the al-Qaeda is a blow to the Arab world and “threatens the interests of the Islamic Ummah (community).”

Earlier this week, a French newspaper disclosed that Jordan decided to open its air space to the Zionist entity in order to monitor the situation in Syria and even attack the country.

The report published Monday by the French daily Le Figaro said two air corridors — one in the South of Jordan from the Negev region in Southern occupied territories and another North of Amman — have been made available to the Zionist regime’s air force.

Jordan’s King Abdullah decided to permit the Zionist entity to use his country’s airspace after meeting with US President Barack Obama in Jordan in March, the newspaper added.

“This is a strong and exceptional gesture,” western military source in the Middle East said.

To avoid detection, “Israeli drones will fly at night,” the source added.

“They will carry out reconnaissance missions, but they will be also armed and therefore can hit a target anywhere in Syria.”

Media reports in January had unveiled that Israeli officers have held several secret meetings with Syrian terrorists in Jordan.

According to a report by Neworient News Agency, the western intelligence sources said that the growing meetings between the Syrian terrorists and Israeli officials are aimed at making the necessary coordination to initiate joint military action in the Golan Heights to improve Israel’s military capabilities in the area.

The sources added at the time that joint border areas between Jordan and Syria are witnessing military clashes every night between the Syrian army troops and a front consisting of the Syrian rebels, the US, Israeli and Jordanian special forces.
