Iranian Diplomat: ‘Military action on Syria unacceptable’

19d4b4c31da1e67c369ba53144decbed_LIran’s Ambassador to Tokyo Reza Nazarahari has warned against the repercussions of military action against Syria, denouncing any such unilateral move as “unacceptable.”

According to Press TV, speaking at a forum in Tokyo on Thursday, Nazarahari reaffirmed Iran’s opposition to any kind of military action against Syria.
He added that Iran recognizes the need for reforms in Syria, but it is against any kind of foreign intervention and dismisses military action as a solution to the Syria turmoil.
The war rhetoric against Syria intensified after foreign-backed opposition forces accused President Bashar al-Assad’s government of having launched a chemical attack on militant strongholds in the suburbs of Damascus last week.
Damascus, nevertheless, has categorically rejected the claim and announced that the chemical attack had actually been carried out by the militants themselves as a false-flag operation.
US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said Friday that Washington is still seeking an “international coalition” for a potential attack on Syria.
Hagel told a news conference in the Philippines’ capital, Manila “Our approach is to continue to find an international coalition that will act together.”
This comes as UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has called for a diplomatic solution to the crisis in Syria that started in 2011.
On Thursday, a meeting of the UN Security Council permanent members ended without reaching an agreement to resolve the Syria crisis.
The Western members of the UNSC have been pushing for a resolution on the use of force while Russia and China are strongly opposed to any attack on Syria.
