Iranian director calls world artists to join WAVE

An Iranian director has said he has spoken to national and international institutions about the WAVE project to be implemented.

Mehdi Naderi , director of ‘Farewell Baghdad,’ screened in Fajr Film Festival told Mehr News that he had been working on president Rouhani’s proposed plan, that is, ‘world against violence and extremism,’ as a cinematic project in two national and international phases. “The international phase would incorporate contributions from renowned directors of world cinema,” he told Mehr News.

“The project is a necessity for today’s society and also in line with my orientation in directing films. It has been ratified by the UN as well and it could be focused internationally relatively easily,” he added.

“This is an important diplomatic feat of president Rouhani’s. I prepared a plan after the president’s speech in the UN and we have been working with a political and technical team on the plan which includes holding festival and artistic creations,” Naderi said.

He also said that the plan had stolen the limelight among the international institutions and would center on Iran as a comprehensive film project.

Naderi told Mehr News that he would provide the public with details of the conference. “Now, we are negotiating to recruit the cooperation. So far, many institutions, national and international, agreed to cooperate and contribute,” he asserted.
