Iranian DM Offers Using Nowrouz for Spreading Peace in World

Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi called on the world nations to use the Persian eve of Nowrouz, celebrating the new Iranian year, as an opportunity to spread peace and friendship throughout the globe.

Vahidi said on Friday that Nowrouz has a message of peace, friendship and religious teachings to world nations.

Referring to the wise message of The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppresed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei on Nowrouz, he said the event will deepen interactions and contacts among nations which is of prime importance in terms of civilizations.

He expressed the hope that message of Nowrouz would spread to the entire region.

Nowrouz, which coincides with the first day of spring on the solar calendar, is mostly celebrated in Iran, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, India, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan.

The International Day of Nowrouz was registered on the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on February 23, 2010.
