Iranian FM to visit Moscow in April

Mohammad Javad Zarif will make a trip to Moscow in April to attend the meeting of the foreign ministers of the countries bordering the Caspian Sea, Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanai has said.
In an interview with the Russian news agency RIA Novosti published on Saturday, Ambassador Sanaii said the meeting will be a preliminary session to draw up the draft of the statement of the heads of government which will meet in Moscow in September.

The presidents of the Caspian Sea littoral states will meet in Moscow to decide about the sea’s legal regime.

Sanaii also said that the relationship between Iran and Russia has entered a “new phase”.

The ambassador said the economic interactions between the two countries have been under the influence of the Western-led sanctions against Iran over the past two years, but the two countries have maintained relationship based on goodwill and the interests of the two countries.

He added that the two countries are seeking to improve relations to a “strategic level”.
