Iranian MPs, Diplomats to Confer on Riyadh’s Plot to Annex Bahrain

The Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission is scheduled to hold a meeting with the country’s foreign ministry officials in a bid to discuss a recent plot hatched by Saudi Arabia to annex Bahrain to its territories.

Speaking to FNA, Vice-Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Hossein Ebrahimi said that the meeting will be held in Iran’s Foreign Ministry tomorrow.

“One of the issues on the agenda of the meeting will be the plot for the annexation of Bahrain to Saudi Arabia,” Ebrahimi said.

The plot has angered people in the tiny Persian Gulf island. Opposition forces have warned that the move is “illegal” and “dangerous”, and stressed that they would stand against the plot.

They also said that the Bahraini parliament and certain government officials are opposed to the annexation of Bahrain’s territories to Saudi Arabia and see it as a threat to the country’s independence, sovereignty and social liberalism.
